Moving

The Lord said to Abram, "Leave your native country, your relatives, and your father's family, and go to the land I will show you."
Genesis 12:1

We recently sold our home and had to move. My husband and I felt renting would be the best decision for a while, so we began looking for a place to live. I felt a little like Abraham when God told him to take his family and go. He had no idea where he was going, and he was to just trust God to direct the way. I know many people who would not ever consider leaving their homes and families. I can look back and see God working in so many ways that have resulted in me having greater trust in Him. Sometimes, we rob ourselves of experiencing God, when we don't follow Him to unfamiliar places.

We looked at many places and prayed for direction. Yet, we still weren't sure where to go. We continued to pray. Even though our next home would be temporarly, we kew God had a specific place in mind for us.

Moving can be very difficult for many reasons. First of all, it is a change. But, it is also a challenge and a chore. It is hard to make changes when things are comfortable. It is a challenge to find a place to go, and it is a chore to go there!

God, I believe, works with us best when we are willing to make changes. Walking with God always requires change. He will often give us a challenge that seems too difficult to do, without relying on Him. Often, in the most difficult things, we depend more on Him than on ourselves.

Finally, God did direct us to a new place. It has become a challenge to get 2600sqft into 1900sqft. The chore was to get it all finished by the date of our closing. I am excited to see what God has in store in this new place. It will be exciting to discover what changes He will make in us to accomplish His plan.

The next time you have the opportunity to change, be open to the challenge. God will give you all you need to accomplish His purpose and plan.

Thank you, Jesus, for continuing to take us out of our comfort zones, so that you might work in our lives.

Sharon
