Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on
your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your
paths straight.
Proverbs 3:5,6
Dear Rachel,
You are about to start on an exciting adventure. The next
four years will bring you many new experiences. You will make lasting
friendships and be exposed to a multitude of new ideas. Who knows? You might
even meet your soul mate.
Being your grandmother gives me an opportunity to offer
suggestions for a successful college experience. I am sending you these five
letters with love because you are so special to me.
Remember that I have seen so much more of the parade of life
than you. It’s like you are standing at the first of the circus parade of life.
You see the first band and the first elephant. I have seen at least three
fourths of the parade. Many bands have passed. The clowns of life plus the
lions and tigers have passed me by. I have learned many lessons as the parade of
life marched passed me.
I am sending you five
letters to help answer the following questions:
1.
How Can Setting Priorities Help My Success in College?
2.
Can I Trust the Bible?
3.
Do All Roads Lead to Heaven?
4.
Is Jesus the Only Way?
5.
Can I Believe in Evolution and Be a Christian?
Setting priorities is important in any endeavor you
undertake. To be successful in college
you must be organized. Organize your time, your study area, and your room. This
will alleviate so much frustration.
Determination should be a priority. Decide at the beginning
that you are going to be the best you can be. Embrace new opportunities. Don’t
let fear of failure keep you from trying different paths.
Organization and determination should be among the top of
your priorities. However, God should head the very top of your list. He will be
with you at college. Nothing I write could top what God’s Word says.
“God is our refuge
and strength, an ever-present help in trouble” Psalm 46:1. “It is God who arms me with strength and
makes my way perfect” 2 Samuel 22:33. “When I am afraid, I will trust in you”
Psalm 56:3.
Love,
Grammy
