Sanctification

And I give myself as a holy sacrifice for them so they can be made holy by your truth.
John 17:19

Jesus dedicated Himself to be a sacrifice so others can be made holy. That is the best meaning of sanctification. It is a big theological word, and one that is the most important in our spiritual journey day by day.

God will do what He says, and make no mistake He will bring us to holiness. We have heard many times He is more concerned about our holiness that our happiness. In order to live a life forever serving a holy God we have to be made holy. That is not easy for us at times, but is essential.

The process of sanctification can sometimes be the most difficult to bear and it is given in many different ways. Sometimes it comes through financial hardships, sickness, family issues, disappointments, and more. Things that more often than not are out of our control and only ones in which God is the source of victory. Yet when the trouble is gone we will have either become better or bitter. As we learn more about God we realize we know less and He is still God. We can always think of easier ways and often do not understand, but we learn to trust Him more. That is exactly the point and brings us to holiness which means “set apart” for His service.

The world often cannot tell the difference between a believer and a non-believer but being set apart will do that. To be set apart means to be reserved for a particular use. God has a specific plan for each one of us and He will fulfill His plan. Be joyful in the hard times, let His peace come over you, and you will become holy when its over.

Thank you God for being faithful to me.

Sharon
