My grace is sufficient for you, for my power
is made perfect in weakness.
2 Corinthians 12:9
“I closed my eyes and just talked to the Lord for a while. At the
end of my prayer I promised God to be available for anything He wanted me to
do.” She paused, then added, “I didn’t know He was going to put me to work
right away. I thought I’d get to rest first. However, when I opened my eyes,
the man seated beside me asked, ‘Are you a Christian?’
“At that moment talking to him was the last thing I wanted to do,”
she admitted. “I was so tired. I didn’t know if I would even make sense, but I’d
just promised God I would be available. So, I told the gentleman beside me,
yes, I was a Christian, and Jesus was my Savior.
“As we talked, I learned he was on his way home to an eastern
European country. He explained he’d been raised in a religion that didn’t
accept Jesus as God, but he was curious about Christianity. We talked all
night, and he was still asking questions when we landed.”
My friend’s experience showed me the importance of being
available. God had scheduled a divine appointment for her to share Jesus. So,
even though she was tired and aware of her limitations, she trusted God to
speak through her.
I wonder how many spiritual opportunities I have missed because I
didn’t think I was up to the challenge.
God wants to use us, and He will if we ignore our weakness and
rely on Him.
Father, thank You for the privilege of serving You.
Carol
