Do I Look Different To You?

And we, who with unveiled faces all reflect the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his likeness with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.
2 Corinthians 3:18

Last summer my daughter and I put a fun streak of color in our hair. We chose a lively purple hue for our summer accent. It was a temporary way to ensure my status as the coolest mom.

Sunday came around, and I was a part of the worship team that day. My hair was still purple, and I was mortified. I personally didn’t find anything wrong with a touch of fun in my hair, but I did not want to offend anyone else. I went on about my morning, ready to explain my crazy hair to anyone who noticed. But no one noticed. Not one person asked me about my hair, not even my closest friends. Then I wanted someone to notice! Why didn’t anyone see the change in me?

Have you ever wondered whether others can see the changes in you spiritually? We are never static in our relationship with the Father. The relationship, just like any other, is constantly changing. He never changes, but we do. We are either growing closer to the Lord, becoming more and more like Him, or we are falling away, with a widening distance between. We cannot just stay where we are.

When we are in the presence of the Lord, we are changed. When Moses came down from Mount Sinai with the two tablets of the Testimony in his hands, he was not aware that his face was radiant because he had spoken with the LORD (Exodus 34:29). Moses was unaware of the change, but others saw it clearly.

Sometimes we are unaware of how the Father is changing our character, but others might notice that we are less negative, less prone to gossip, more encouraging, and more likely to serve. When we spend time with the Lord, His power will change us to be more like Him, allowing His glory to shine through us. How is God’s presence changing you? Dig into the Word with Him and see what radiance rubs off on you!
