Real Peace

“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”
John 14:27

If you could ask God for anything in your life, what would you ask Him to do for you? I believe most people would say, “I’d ask for some peace in my life.”

All around us we hear the word “peace” being tossed about—peace talks, peace treaty, etc. People express their need for peace, but they are unable to find it in our society. The world can’t give us peace because it doesn’t have any peace to give.

Where can we find peace? Jesus Christ alone can bring lasting peace.  Only He can give us peace with God, peace among men and nations, and peace within our hearts. Peace is a gift from God to all Christians. Our Scripture for today reminds us that we don’t have to be troubled or afraid because Jesus gives us His peace.

Notice, also, that the peace Jesus is speaking of is not like that of the world. His peace gives us an inner quality that flows out of a right relationship with God. It is a peace that gives us calmness in the midst of trials or heartache.

Life is like a river. Sometimes our lives are smooth, and we flow gently along. Then, there are times where it seems we are living in a circle, like the currents of a river. We find ourselves overwhelmed with decisions to make, financial problems, or relationship problems.  God doesn’t want to see His children tie themselves up in anxious knots ignoring His gift of peace.

If you have not asked Jesus, the Peacegiver, to be your Lord and Savior, I hope you will refer back to the beginning of this website. You will find the steps to finding Jesus Christ.

It is God’s desire that we feel His peace at all times. This is a peace that includes joy and a feeling of purpose in every area of our lives.
