I love those who love me, and
those who seek me find me.
Proverbs 8:17
Give me a rainy day, a bowl of popcorn, a diet soda, and a
good ol’ British mystery, a Miss Marple or Sherlock Holmes and I am in
detective paradise.
A Bible study a number of years ago set me off on the
continuing adventure of being a spiritual sleuth. Now I do not mean some paranormal ghost-busting mumbo-jumbo. In this Bible study a sentence stating
that God engineers the details in the lives of His children just jumped off the
page and imprinted itself in my brain.
I became so conscious of this sentence and its meaning that
I began looking for His fingerprints in the details of my everyday life----and
I found them EVERYWHERE! Then I
enlarged my search area to include the lives and events of family and
friends. He was leaving His
fingerprints all over the place!
If it had been a crime scene and a court case God would have been
convicted of being ‘big time’ involved in the daily details of His children’s
lives.
It is not a crime scene and there is no court case. It is the TRUTH.
Hebrews 11:6 reads,
And
without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him
must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.
Matthew 7:8 reads, For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks
finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened.
The important characteristics of a spiritual sleuth are to
keep your eyes open to details; study your subject (God) so you recognize Him
and the evidence of His presence; learn how He operates and His motives. Know, beyond any doubt, that when you
put the evidence under the microscope of God’s Word you will have irrefutable
proof they are His fingerprints.
Heavenly Father, open
my eyes today to Your fingerprints on the details of my life.
