WISDOM IN A COOKIE???

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.  In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make your paths straight.
Proverbs 3:5-6

You know the fun of breaking open the fortune cookie after an oriental meal. You read it, laugh, and pass it around the table for all to laugh at your prognostication of money or great accolades coming your way. Well, recently I opened one that read, “Your place in the path of life is in the driver’s seat.” I sat blinking as all my Bible study went into over-drive.

Yeah, me in the driver’s seat of my life! I have run red lights, fallen asleep at the wheel, gotten speeding tickets, had fender benders, failed to signal, gone the wrong way down a one-way street, and been lost numerous times. Do I want that kind of driver to run my life? No! No! And No!

Many years ago I jumped out of the driver’s seat and asked my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ to take control and be the Driver. Now, His record is AMAZING. “To whom will you compare me? Or who is my equal?” says the Holy One. Lift your eyes and look to the heavens: Who created all these? He who brings out the starry host one by one, and call them each by name. Because of his great power and mighty strength not one of them is missing. He will not grow tired or weary and his understanding no one can fathom. He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength (Isaiah 40:25-26,28-29,31).

Now let me think----which driver should be in the driver’s seat? The One who created and calls out the stars at night by name and not one is missing or the one who cannot remember where they left the car keys?

The cookie was good, but the “fortune” advice was laughable, and very regrettable.

As for God, his way is perfect; the word of the Lord is flawless. He is a shield for all who take refuge in Him. For who is God besides the Lord? It is God who arms me with strength and makes my way perfect.

Who is in the Driver’s Seat of your life?
