We Have All Fallen Short

For a man is a slave to whatever has mastered him.
2 Peter 2:19

If we are not a slave to God, then we are a slave to something. What are you enslaved to on this very day? Is it food, alcohol, prescription drugs, people, fear, or anger? For whatever you are a slave to, it has mastered you. According to dictionary.com, the definition of master is: a person with the ability or power to use, control,or dispose of something. Let that sink in for a moment. Whatever is your master today, it has the power to use you, control you, and then dispose of you.

If you think for one second that the enemy of your soul wants to see God as your master, I have news for you. According to 1 Peter 5:8, the enemy prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. The enemy of your soul is scheming for a way to bait you with something that will master you, other than God. Why? He wants to destroy your life. John 10:10 says, The thief comes to kill, steal, and destroy. If God is not our master, something else will be.

If you are caught in a web of hidden sin, I can assure you that it has you enslaved at some level or another. I urge you today to cry out for help. You are not alone. The church is a hospital for sinners, not just a place for the saints. We have all fallen short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23). Ask God to bring someone into your life who has struggled with the same temptation as you. Everyone needs a “go to” person. We were never meant to walk through life alone. One of the biggest lies the enemy feeds us is that if anyone knew our struggle, we would be rejected and abandoned. CS Lewis said, “Friendship is born at that moment when one person says to another: ‘What! You too? I thought I was the only one.’”

Father God, we ask you to bring a Godly friend into our lives that has already walked through the same struggle as us and found victory. We are tired of living in darkness and feeling enslaved to anything other than You. We pray that you would break off everything that hinders us from being fully devoted to You.
