Let us
not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if
we do not give up.
Galatians 6:9
Gardening is one of my hobbies. Nature teaches
us many lessons about life applications. We are going to experience seasons of
failure, hurt, or disappointment just as the farmer does with his crops. But we
must keep on keeping on. Learning to never give up is a spiritual core value.
Plant – If you expect to reap a
crop you must at least plant something. I do not understand what happens when a
tiny seed is put into the ground then grows into something very different. But
God knows. All I know is if I want God’s best for my life, then I must plant the
seeds of truth in it and wait for the goodness of God to be produced.
Plant the right seeds – Remember
you will reap what you sow. If you plant carrots, you will never get peas. Often
times we don’t like what we harvest in our lives, but have we taken a look at
the seeds we have planted? We desire faith, but we never use any. We want more
money, but fail to tithe and give offerings. God gives seed to the sower. He
will provide and increase the resources of those who are generous and faithful.
Understand you can’t control the circumstances – Once we plant, we can’t control many of the variables. The farmer
can’t control the weather. Some years there is a great harvest, and others years
the crops are scarce. We must learn to be patient and wait on the Lord. There
will be seasons of drought, pestilence, and other failures. But there will also
be seasons when all the conditions are right, and we experience the blessings
and abundance of the Lord in our lives.
Harvest - If we focus on the right
things and wait on God, then eventually we will experience success and
blessings. This is what gives the farmer the ability to persevere through
seasons of difficulty and lean crops. Forgive us, Lord, for trying to dictate the
seasons of our life and harvest out of Your timing. Plant the rights seeds in
your life, pray faithfully, and watch how God will give you a harvest beyond
anything you ever thought possible.
As you go through your daily routine, let the
truths that God teaches us through nature sink deep into your heart. Use the
example of the farmer to encourage you to keep on keeping on in your faith and
commitment.
Father, we thank You for being the great
provider. Help us to release seeds of faith into the good ground of Your Word
and allow You to do the rest!
Janet
