This is
real love – not that we loved God, but that he loved us
and sent
his Son as a sacrifice to take away our sins.
1 John 4:10 NLT
A simple truth received is often the “bringer” of
God’s miraculous power in the life of anyone!
I recently heard a true story about a young pastor
whose small church was struggling, and so, to increase his needed salary, he
was hired to be a counselor at a nearby state mental institution. On the first
day of his new job he was led into building #37 . . . the door locked behind
him!
Walking forward into the room, he found himself
among those who were desperately ill –
men and women in filth and squalor, scantily dressed and crowded together on
benches that lined the walls of the huge room. What a forsaken gathering of
mental pain and misery!
What can I do for them? wondered the
young pastor. The Holy Spirit seemed to say to him, “Start singing! Sing, ‘Yes,
Jesus loves me . . . the Bible tells me so.’”
The pastor sat in the middle of the floor and began
singing. Nothing happened on that first day, or the second, but as he continued
singing each week, a few of the people started to sing with him.
More and more joined in as the truth of those words
began to penetrate the hearts of those patients. Miraculously over time, some were
able to leave building #37, and were placed into independent living quarters.
By the end of a year, all but two from that
original group were released from the facility, free to live outside, all
because of love!
It is that simple! Jesus loves me!
I am weak, but He is
strong!
Yes, Jesus loves me!
It’s all about His Love for us!
This is
real love – not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as a
sacrifice to take away our sins. (1 John 4:10 NLT)
Father, every day I will make it all about
Your love for me, receiving that simple truth! Let it be rooted deep in me . .
. a care-free child singing, “Jesus loves me, this I know, for the Bible tells
me so!”
