. . . If
anything is excellent and if anything is admirable, focus your thoughts on
these things; all that is true, all that is holy, all that is just, all that is
pure, all that is lovely, and all that is worthy of praise.
Philippians 4:8 CEB
I had so much to do that day . . . that week . . .
that month . . . that moment! Demands were pressing in on me from everywhere!
I took my list to God, and with an anxious heart,
tried to pray over it all – What should I do about this? What should I do about
that?
God lovingly tapped me on the shoulder and seemed
to say to me, “Put your list down and leave it all behind. Make Jesus the centerpiece of our
conversation and everything else will fall into place!”
I sat back and reflected on that. I thought about
Mary and Martha, two sisters who each saw life differently. Martha saw only
demands, but Mary saw supply. Jesus
commended Mary for choosing to sit at His feet and listen, away from all the
busy work.
So I focused my thoughts on His excellence . . .
meditated on His supply –
Jesus is the way, the truth, and
the life!
He is altogether lovely and
worthy!
Jesus was wounded for me!
His punishment bought my peace and healing!
He gives me grace and the gift of
righteousness!
It
is for freedom that Jesus set me free!
Father, thank you for setting my heart free
with the words You love to hear!
Martha
