Then
I saw a Lamb, looking as if it had been slain, standing in the center of
the throne, encircled by the four living creatures and the elders…and the twenty-four
elders fell down before the Lamb. Each one had a harp…
Rev 5:6, 8
As the veil parted revealing
scenes in heaven, John beheld Jesus Christ, the Lamb of God. This is love: not that we loved God, but
that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins (I
John 4:10). Jesus is the Lamb of God who was slain, so that you and I through
faith in Him might have eternal life.
Look upon this Lamb as John
looked upon Him. What do you see? Do you see the scars in His hands and feet?
They testify of the price He paid for you and me. He bore the penalty of our
sin upon the cross. The wages of sin is
death (Romans 6:23).
What else do you see? You do
not see a Lamb standing in weakness. Instead, you see a glorified Lamb who
victoriously defeated death and the enemy. You see a Sovereign Lamb that reigns
in power. You see a Lamb surrounded by those who humbly worship Him as LORD.
What is that in the hands of
those who worship? They hold harps, representing the music and praise offered
to the victorious Lamb. Heaven is filled with praise of Jesus the Lamb.
Shouldn’t His redeemed on earth equally be filled with His praise? Follower of
Jesus, how saturated are your thoughts, words and songs with praise of the
risen Lamb?
He who conquered sin and death,
He who reigns forever, is worthy of our praise!
Believer, will you join in
singing a song with the saints in heaven?
Worthy is the Lamb, who was slain, to
receive power and wealth and wisdom and strength and honor and
glory and praise! To him who sits on the throne and to
the Lamb be praise and honor and glory and power, for ever and
ever!
Revelation 5:12, 13
