Does Anybody Really Care?

Though my father and mother forsake me, the Lord will receive me.
Psalm 27:10

Her cheeks glistening with tears, she screamed at the worker sitting next to her. “My dad abandoned me; my mother abandoned me; my aunt abandoned me; my friend abandoned me…” The list continued of several others who had abandoned her. “...and now you are abandoning me, too!”

The underlying message resounded clearly. Do I matter to anyone? Does anyone care enough to stick with me? Will I ever be loved? What is wrong with me?

We don’t have to live long on this earth to experience rejection, resulting in deep wounds in our hearts. In the core of our being, we all need answers to the same questions. Does anyone care?

Dear sister, Jesus cares. He loves you so deeply and completely that it is hard for us to comprehend. He chose you over His own life so you could experience God’s acceptance.
I have chosen you and not rejected you. So do not fear, for I am with you (Isaiah 41:9).

You may have been rejected by family, friends, spouses or others, but God will never reject you. How can you be sure? It’s in His word.

Can a mother forget the baby at her breast and have no compassion on the child she has borne? Though she may forget, I will not forget you (Isaiah 49:15)!

Ladies, He is a friend that sticks closer than a brother (Proverbs 18:24).

In this world, love is often contingent upon our actions, so we assume it’s the same with God. We may work feverishly to gain acceptance from God. Or we may stop trying altogether because we think God can never love and accept us.

Let me assure you, sweet friend, you can never be good enough to earn His love, nor can you ever be too bad for Him to love you. God loves you no matter what you say or do. When we fail, His love is unfailing.

Father, thank you for loving me just because I’m me.

Terri
