Lost

Fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith…
Hebrews 12:2

“I was right behind you. Just for a moment I turned and watched a man on the sidewalk. When I looked back, you were no where in sight.” I listened with empathy as she told her story. The same thing almost happened to me. There were so many people at Disney World, so many sideshows, so many distractions.

A lesson can be learned: When you are following, keep your eyes on the leader. We believers are followers of our Lord Jesus Christ. In a world with many things vying for our attention and many opportunities crowding around us, we must keep our eyes on Jesus. To lose sight of Him is to go astray.

All believers are followers, but we’re also leaders. My daughter was the leader of our group at Disney World. She spent hours preparing for each park experience. She developed a daily schedule and led us beautifully from one attraction to the next. Because of her preparedness, we were able to do everything we wanted to do.

Are you a wife? Then God has made you a leader. True, your husband is to be the spiritual leader of the home. Stepping into that role will be frustrating to you and to him! God has given you the leading support role. You can support him as spiritual leader by praying for him and helping identify family devotional material. You can lead by being an example to other wives as you honor your husband with your words and actions.

Are you a mother? Then lead your children to know God better and to develop a habit of praise, of prayer and Bible study.

Perhaps God has called you to a position of leadership in your church or community. It is vital to keep your eyes on Jesus. As you focus upon and follow Him, He will use you to effectively lead others.

Lord, I want to lead others closer to You. Guard me from distractions. Keep my focus upon You as I follow You daily.
