How I Find God in Zumba . . . and Everyday Life

So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.

I Cor. 10:31

Whether we are writers, doctors, moms or inventors, we are called to glorify God in our daily activities.

But honestly, we just don't know what this looks like sometimes. If that's true with you, ask God to help you with specifics. I know He will.

And I think sometimes it's just easier to see than other times.

As I writer, I can write stories in a way to highlight God working. Even in business writing, I've found this possible.

As a stay-at-home mom, I found it difficult to see how I was glorifying God by cleaning up food off the floor, removing stains from clothing and scrubbing the toilet. Yet thankfully, I read about others who used these activities as prayer prompts for family members. Taking care of your family is also showing them your love and that they matter.

As a doctor, my husband prays with his patients. They love that.

My friend, Angela, is a nurse by day and a Zumba instructor at night. You might not think of a Zumba class as a God-glorifying experience. But I beg to differ. She has a contagious excitement and joy about her. And she often chooses Christian songs, which glorify God and that are fun to dance to! She takes prayer requests at the end of class and prays for all of them. She honors God through Zumba!

One housekeeper that I heard of prays for the family members by name as she makes their beds.

I've observed an employee at a local senior memory care facility. And I see that she glorifies God by playing Christian music and giving the residents manicures. In one sense, she is taking care of a basic need: trimming nails. Yet, she turns it into a fun experience.

So I think it's possible to bless others and glorify God in mundane, everyday things.

What does your daily routine look like?

Ask God to show you some ways to glorify Him today.

Stacy
