God’s Forever Faithfulness

Your faithfulness continues through all generations…
Psalm 119:90

Do you believe God is faithful? I would answer a wholehearted, “Yes!” However, upon what do I base my belief of God’s faithfulness? What about you? Is God faithful because He brings a solution to my problem? Is God faithful because He delivers you or me from a difficulty? Is God faithful because He answered your prayer as you desired? According to scripture, God is faithful—period!

Certainly it is wonderful to praise God’s faithfulness when He has answered our prayer or delivered us. Yet, we must keep in mind that whatever God chooses to do or not to do, He is always faithful. Faithfulness is a part of His character, and He can be no other way! (2 Timothy 2:13). How often am I able to praise God for His faithfulness when the crisis still looms or when my prayer isn’t answered?

David was in the midst of a crisis. He cried out to God for mercy and said, I will take refuge in the shadow of your wings until the disaster has passed. I cry out to God Most High, to God, who fulfills His purpose for me (Psalm 57:1-2). In faith, David cried out to God, knowing there would come a time when his present difficulty of being pursued by Saul would end. God had promised David he would be king, and David expressed faith that God’s purpose would be fulfilled. You and I can have confidence that God’s purpose for us will be fulfilled. However, unlike David, God has not promised each of us that our present difficulty will end (this side of heaven). Are you able to testify of God’s faithfulness, knowing the difficulty you are in right now may remain?

In the midst of difficulty, David’s focus was upon God’s exaltation, not his own. With a steadfast heart, David lifted his voice in praise saying, For great is your love, reaching to the heavens; your faithfulness reaches to the skies (Psalm 57:10).

Lord, use us to testify that Your faithfulness has no end!
