But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect.
I Peter 3:15
Just like in most areas of life, preparation is key. It will make the difference in how easily you can discuss issues of faith. Why not take some time today to begin that process?
Spend some time writing out your story. It doesn’t have to be elaborate or perfect because it’s just for your eyes. Record what your life was like before Christ, how you realized your need for a Savior and then how you have changed since becoming a Christian.
People can deny a lot of things, but they can’t argue with a personal encounter.
Sometimes we want to hide our “before Jesus” failures. In fact, we want to hide every fault and scar. While there is certainly a place for discretion, sharing our real-life story may just birth hope in someone else. Your testimony may give them permission to be vulnerable and courage to ask questions.
So, write it down today. Tuck it away in your Bible and pray for an opportunity to share with someone who needs to hear it this week. It may be a family member or friend you’ve known your whole life or someone you just met. It could be a person who knows Jesus or one who’s not given Him much thought.
Either way, get prepared. Someone may be waiting for a word of hope today.
Jesus, thank You that You have given me a story to share. Let me never be ashamed to tell what You have done in my life.
