You love Him even though you have never seen Him. Though you do not see
Him now, you trust Him and rejoice with a glorious inexpressible joy. The
reward for trusting Him will be the salvation of your souls.
1 Peter 1:8-9
Now lets get to the desserts! Why
is it we love so much the things that really aren’t so good for us? The pies, cakes, ice cream, and those great
cookies. All of these are usually eaten
at the holiday times and we all make an exception for our diets at this time.
I consider desserts like the rewards
that are waiting for us in Heaven. We
know the Bible teaches we will be rewarded for what we have done. I wonder what that will be like?
Maybe “well done my good and
faithful servant” is all that is necessary for us to hear.
Maybe we will be reminded of the
people we encouraged along the way.
There may be people in heaven we prayed for yet they never knew it was
because of our prayers they are there.
Possibly it will be seeing those we love greet us at the gate. Whatever the rewards may be, they are
something to look forward to.
We love to be told we did a good
job, or when someone repays us for something we gave them. As a mom we feel
rewarded when our children do the right things. However, I think no matter what
we consider a reward here, heaven will be so much better than anything we could
ever imagine.
I know seeing the face of my
Savior is surely something I consider a reward.
What a joy and a sense of overwhelming gratitude I will feel. Just being able to enter the pearly gates and
see what Heaven is like should be all the reward necessary. Bowing on my knees in awe is something that will
be over the top. What a day that will be!
So the next time you eat your
dessert think of it as a reward. Sit and consider your heavenly rewards
awaiting you and let that be a source of encouragement.
Thank you Jesus for
being my reward.
