P.E.A.C.E: Presence

For he himself is our peace.
Ephesians 2:14

I just realized P.E.A.C.E is a five letter word, perfect to spend five days writing about:

·         P-resence

·         E-ncouragement

·         A-bundance

·         C-omfort

·         E-nergy

We begin with Presence, the presence of the Almighty God in our lives. From the beginning to the end of Scripture, God tied His presence to peace, more specifically either to the prophecy of Jesus or to the incarnation and subsequent death and resurrection of His Son. Add the Holy Spirit to the equation and you have genuine, vibrant, soul-keeping peace.

From the pen of Isaiah 9:6-7, For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders, and he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the increase of his government and peace there will be no end.

BUT he was pierced for our transgression, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon him, and by his wounds we are healed (Isaiah 53:5).

From the benedictus of Zechariah: “because of the tender mercy of our God, by which the rising sun will come to us from heaven to shine on those living in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the path of peace” (Luke 1:78-79).

From the angels to the shepherds: “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to men on whom his favor rests” (Luke 2:14).

From the resurrected Christ: Jesus himself stood among them and said to them, “Peace be with you. —Look at my hands and my feet. It is I myself! Touch me and see” (Luke 24:36, 39).

To the indwelling of the Holy Spirit: For the kingdom of God is—a matter of righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit (Romans 14:17).

Till the end of time: “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid” (John 14:27).

Yes indeedy, HE HIMSELF is our Peace! Thank You Jesus for Your presence in me. As St. Augustine said: My heart is restless (not at peace) until it rests in You.
