Don't All Roads Lead to Heaven?

“Jesus answered, ‘I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.’”
 John 14:6

Dear Rachel,

I stood in the tunnel between the subway and Grand Central Station. The commuters hurried through as they traveled to and fro in this busy metropolis. We were offering to pray with people and had a tremendous response. There are so many hurting people in New York City.

A tall, dignified man politely passed by. He wore a turban and was obviously an educated gentleman. His reply to my offer for prayer was, “I am Hindu. I respect your religion and I hope you will mine.”

We had been offering small testaments of the gospel of John to passers- by. They were very popular and all gone. If I had been able to give him one, he might have read it out of curiosity. Many a person has been saved from this one book. I have thought of this man many times since.  I still pray for him.

Satan has won many victories because he tells the world that all roads lead to Heaven. Many people embrace the religion of their choice because of this lie from Satan. How nice to believe that you can be god or that the moral issues are up to you. Eastern religions have crept into our society.

Heresy is rampant. Even churches who call themselves Christian have veered away from the basic Biblical truths. When a celebrity dies, people often make remarks about them going to Heaven. Many don’t even profess Christianity. I have heard terms like, “The great golf course in the sky,” or “He’s gone to the big roundup in the sky.” This all seems nice, but scripturally it is a false belief.

If you believe the Bible you must accept Its teachings about salvation. See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the basic principles of this world rather than on Christ (Colossians 2:8).

Read what Jesus said about false worshipers, “’Not everyone who says to me, “Lord, Lord,” will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven’” Matthew 7:21. How do we know what God’s will is? The Bible is His Word. It is our roadmap for life. His commandments are in it and over forty men were inspired to write what God wanted us to know.

As Christians we all fail to meet the high standards in the Bible. However we should all be striving to meet them. This process by which Christians grow in their faith is called sanctification. True followers of Christ are just that. They follow Christ’s teachings laid out for us in the Bible. He is the One and Only.

“He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life” 1 John 5:12. God’s Word makes it clear, Jesus is the only way.

Love,

Gram
