The Son is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn
over all creation. For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on
earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or
authorities; all things have been created through him and for him.
Colossians
1:15 ,16
Dear Rachel,
Let’s talk about evolution. You are going to be faced with
this theory. Academia often uses evolution as the argument against our faith. For
the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing… (1
Corinthians 1:18). Stand firm in your faith and remember the words of the
apostle Paul, The foolishness of God is wiser than human wisdom, and the
weakness of God is stronger than human strength (1 Corinthians )1:25.
The central idea of evolution is that life on Earth shares a
common ancestor. We are all distant cousins with the oak tree, humming birds,
whales, fleas, and snakes.
The process of
evolution produces a pattern of relationship between species. The
evolutionists work with a phylogeny or “family tree.” This phylogeny
represents the basic relationships that tie all life on Earth together. This is
macroevolution. This theory leaves God out of the equation.
I believe in microevolution. This belief is that
there is evolution within a species. Examples of this are: the house
cat, a distant relative of the saber-toothed tiger. The dog evolved from the
wolf. The present day elephant evolved
from the wooly mammal. Evolution takes place within a species.
Animals change appearances and forms as they evolve in their
environment. Scientists cite the house sparrow as another example. This bird
evolved according to the area it settled in when it was introduced to North
America in the 1800’s. The sparrow in the north grew larger to survive the
cold. The southern one remained smaller because of the warmer weather.
Evolutionists discount the microevolution theory because
they say, “What’s to keep the evolution from reaching beyond their species? “
They give this argument because they totally discount God in the creation of
life forms. We who believe in the God of Creation know He controls everything.
As a Christian I believe the Bible, the Word of God. So
God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and
female he created them (Genesis 1:27).
I don’t know how and I don’t know when. I know we are different. We have
a spirit that yearns for a relationship with God. I know we have a sense of
right and wrong. We are made in His image.
I pray that you will stand firm in your faith and remember
that our God is limitless. He created the Universe. Our earth changes and life
on earth changes because God allows it. God created you. He loves you and will
be with you even when your faith is tested. Stand firm in your faith,
Granddaughter.
Love,
Gram
