Raised By God: Psalm 71

Your righteousness reaches to the skies, O God, you who have done great things.
Who, O God, is like you?
Psalm 71:19

Who raised you? Who helped provide for your needs? Who cared for you and guided you and taught you things you needed to know? I like to say I was raised by God.
Yes, I had natural parents who loved me and cared for me in my youth. I am blessed that my parents made sure our family attended church regularly. Occasionally, I would see my parents read the Bible, and we would usually pray before meals. However, I don’t remember spiritual conversations in my home. I don’t remember my parents teaching me anything about God or the Bible. I don’t remember anyone in my family displaying a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
So how at the age of 5 did I become a believer? How did I understand that Jesus is the one way of salvation? How is it that I developed a desire to read the Bible while still very young? Because this was not modeled in my home, I know this came from God. He drew me, saved me, and taught me. He raised me!
For You have been my hope, O Sovereign Lord, my confidence since my youth. From birth I have relied on You; You brought me forth from my mother's womb. I will ever praise You… Since my youth, O God, You have taught me, and to this day I declare Your marvelous deeds (Psalm 71: 5-6, 17). This is my life story!
I look at my life and I am amazed at God’s grace. All glory goes to God for my salvation! What is your life story? Even if you had no one in your past to teach you about God, remember God Himself is sufficient. He will reveal Himself to you. He in grace will draw you, save you, and teach you. His arms remain wide open! How about joining His family and spending the rest of your life being raised by Him?
