You will hear of wars and
rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must
happen, but the end is still to come. Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will
be famines and earthquakes in various places.
Matthew 24:6-7
Since our acrimonious election
recently many fear for our country, saying that we are facing a cataclysmic
downfall. The internet is alive with
dire predictions for our country and our way of life. The airways are swarming
with gloom-and-doom predictions.
Sin and turning away from God
is rampant. For the first time Christian
values seem to be in the minority with those who stand up for them being
derided, despised and sometimes destroyed.
The world is rife with
problems. Wars all across the
globe. Famine in many places. Floods and violent storms that have caused
suffering and untold hardships on every continent. Countries' economic systems failing. The world stock markets plunging.
Within our country, class
warfare is getting more and more pronounced. We are becoming a totally divided
citizenry. We are dividing into the
haves and the have-nots; the native-born and the recently-arrived; the lawless
and the upright; the big-brother- government advocates and the
freedom-from-government advocates. The
chasm between people is getting wider all the time. Christianity is being
attacked from within and without. It is a scary time to be alive. How should Christians
face these difficult times?
Turn to the Lord. Pray without ceasing. Read His Word. Ponder it day and night. Trust His Love and
Mercy. He is our Salvation, today and always.
The Lord
is my light and my salvation— whom shall I fear? The Lord
is the stronghold of my life— of whom shall I be afraid?
Psalm: 27:1
