Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and your plans will succeed.
Proverbs 16:3
“Lucas, get your soccer
shoes from the utility room. Katie, the half-time snack is in the refrigerator.
Sean, come here so Mom can button your jacket.”
“How am I going to get to
the nursing home for the conference about Mom on time? When will I have time to
cook supper? Oh, well, I guess it’s fast food again tonight.”
“I feel like I’m drowning
and no one to throw me a life line. I know I should be thankful that Tim helps
me like he does, but he is out of town so much. I can’t always depend on him.
How do single moms cope? I’m not managing so well myself.”
This scene is played out
in a variety of ways every day. So much to do and not enough time to accomplish
all that is demanded of us. Fortunate are the moms who have Christian mates who
take their share of responsibilities. They need to say a special prayer of
thanksgiving and pray for the single moms and moms with husbands who shirk
their duties.
Along with moms with young
children are the women who balance careers, homes, care for aging parents, and
some who endure impossible husbands. Some deal with health issues along with
the myriad demands on their time. Many feel like they have no recourse and must
stay flailing in the rapids of their lives.
The CEO of Coca-Cola gave
some great advice for balancing your life. Here are a few of his suggestions:
*Don’t compare yourselves
to others. Be the best you can be.
*Don’t set your goals by
what other people deem important.
*Live your life one day at
a time. Then you will live ALL the days of your life.
*Don’t be afraid to admit
that you are less than perfect.
*Don’t use time or words
carelessly. Neither can be retrieved. Life is not a race, but a journey to be savored each step of the way.
Let me offer you even
better advice. Turn your life over to the greatest lifeguard of all. God can
pull you out of the dangerous waves engulfing you. He can impart wisdom to help
you through the most difficult day. Take a big breath and ask Him for wisdom to
help you plan your day. I have often said that He is my Time Manager. He
is sufficient. You will not drown when you are holding on to the saving hand of
your Heavenly Father.
Dear
Father, Thank You for the words of Jesus, “ My grace is sufficient for you, for
my power is made perfect in weakness” 2 Corinthians 12:9.
