For I am convinced that
neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the
future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all
creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ
Jesus our Lord.
Romans 8:38-39
The day Drew moved out followed ten months of
limbo. It had been an awful day. The kids cried themselves to sleep. It was
late when Dana climbed into bed. She sat propped up on her side of the double
bed and opened her Bible. She hadn’t planned to read Romans 8, but the words
were there for her that night.
God’s words touched her gently, much like the
romantic gesture of being presented a single, long-stemmed red rose.
How like God to tenderly speak to her ravaged heart
about the impossibility of separation from Him. She was now separated from her
husband. Alone. Insecure. Would she allow
herself to feel the depths of pain or would she shore up the tidal waves of
emotion for another day? Hot tears flowed freely as a warm healing balm. It
didn’t matter that they soaked her nightgown.
God, You are
with me and You have promised to never leave me. Do I believe You?

As women, we have an innate need for security. What
happens when we’ve relied on another person for our security, and it’s suddenly
ripped away?
As lovers of Jesus, security is ours. God’s
presence makes all the difference.
God never flees, even though it’s seems that way
when trials hit. Nothing can part us from God and His love. We are safe and secure
in Him, therefore, we have confidence and hope.
Our “Abba” Father says He loves us, we are
beautiful, we are wanted, we are valuable, and we are secure. His actions
toward us affirm His words. Our praises and thankfulness are evidence that we
have entrusted our hearts to Him.
Whatever you’re going through or how you feel, pray
with me as an act of faith:
Gracious Heavenly
Father, nothing can separate me from You and Your perfect love. Thank You for being
trustworthy with all my fears, doubts, and feelings. I choose to replace the lies
I’ve believed with Your truth.
