“Therefore go and make disciples of all
nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the
Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And
surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
Matthew 28:19-20
I grew up outside West
Monroe, Louisiana. In fact, my home
place is only a few miles from Phil Robertson and his wife, Miss Kay. Phil and
his family have become quite famous from the exceedingly popular A&E Duck Dynasty TV program.
My brother lives in West
Monroe and knows the Robertson family really well. One of Phil’s sons is my bother’s neighbor.
Some of their shows were filmed in my brother’s pasture.
The Robertsons are to be
admired for their stand for Jesus Christ. When the A&E producers told Phil
that he couldn’t say grace before the family dinner, Phil’s reply was, “Then we
won’t do the show.”
There have been several
times when A&E wanted to leave out references to God, and Phil’s reply was
always, “Then we won’t do the show.” We are all familiar with A&E’s
canceling some of the episodes of Duck
Dynasty because of Phil’s comments about homosexuals. We also know how the
Robertsons stood up for their biblical beliefs. Because of public outcry, these
episodes were reinstated.
The popularity and the high
sale of their products just show how many support the wholesome Christian
values the Robertsons exhibit, not only on the show but also in their daily
lives off camera.
Phil describes his early
adult years as “romping, stomping, and ripping.” Then he met Jesus Christ at
age 28, and his life was turned around. He now travels all over the country
spreading the good news of Jesus Christ. Phil’s sins were washed away, he was taught a better way to live, and he
is guaranteed an eternal inheritance.
Would you be willing to
stand up for Jesus Christ even if it meant a loss of fame and money? Are you afraid or embarrassed to share your
faith and to tell others about Jesus?
Today’s Challenge: SHARE JESUS CHRIST WITH SOMEONE TODAY.
