It is for freedom that Christ has
set us free.
Galatians 5:1
We struggle
together, my “list” and I. Somehow, getting things done and checking them off
gives me that sense of accomplishment! But that all changed for me a few weeks
ago when, no matter how hard I tried, all my attempts to get things done just
bogged down in the sand. The burden of the “unfinished” drove me crazy! I had
become an inchworm in slow motion. What
was going on?
Right in
the middle of that get-nothing-done zone, I experienced a day that was totally
opposite. I was packing for a long trip and, though there were many
interruptions, everything flowed together peacefully and perfectly. The stark
difference was obvious and intentional. God was showing me something!
He
brought a verse to my mind, It is for
freedom that Christ has set us free (Galatians 5:1). Certainly freedom had
been eluding me, but now I saw that God was after something new: He wants me to
stop being annoyed by interruptions and, instead, find freedom in letting them go!
Things
might get done in little increments, but I find that there is joy in the delays
when I invite Jesus to be my peace in the middle of them.
Father, remind me that life is not intended to be a struggle, but a
pattern of surrendered moments . . . living free!
Martha
