God has chosen to make known to them the glorious riches of that mystery. He has made it known among those who aren’t Jews. And here is what it is. Christ is in you. He is your hope of glory.
I Colossians 1:27 (NIRV)
As my son was growing up, his best Christmas gift would be the last one to open. Using clues hidden around our home, he would move quickly from clue to clue for his annual treasure hunt.
The year of the 10-speed bicycle, our entire family donned heavy coats to accompany him through the snow. As he opened our neighbor’s garage, there it was! Off he rode leaving bike tracks in the snow.
God has treasures for us, but they are not hidden. As we read His word, worship, and obey, we find His love, His plans for us, - very special treasures. The Holy Spirit speaks to us, guides us, and even admonishes us to strengthen our walk with Him.
Like my son, we have to take action to find the treasures He has for us. A regular quiet time with Him, meditating, music, and prayer are “clues” to knowing His treasures. Studying and sharing with others can be beneficial and a special blessing.
It’s not a game as our annual treasure hunt was. God doesn’t play games with us. Yes, He challenges us, warns us, chastens us, but His love is always there.
Let’s open our Bibles and read. For lasting treasures, memorize those verses that are special for you.
Is this one already in your memory bank? Your treasure bank? For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life (John 3:16).
