“Kablooey”

“Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord. Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.”
Romans 12:11-12

On my way to work one morning I heard the voice of a precious little boy on the radio describing his first kiss. Obviously, this kiss came from a girl other than his mother. He could barely contain his excitement.

Evidently, the kiss had happened just that day and he was talking about it to whoever had picked him up from school. That person had the presence of mind to record his observations.

The youngster described it this way, “It is amazing! When she kisses me, it goes to my brain, it goes to my heart. It’s SO great. It is mind-blowing! It just goes KABLOOEY!”

After I recovered from my laughter, I started thinking about my relationship with God. What if I described God to others in that way? God is just amazing. His Word goes to my brain and to my heart. Spending time with God is so great. It’s mind-blowing! It just goes KABLOOEY!

What if I could convey that kind of joy about my relationship with God with as much enthusiasm as that little boy had described his first kiss? Would others want that kind of relationship with God in their own lives? Would others desire to cherish Him and be cherished by Him? Would others be attracted to God by that kind of description?

Hopefully, that story will remain in my mind for a long time. Hopefully, I will smile when I think of it and also when I am sharing Christ with others whether by my words or by my actions. Hopefully, God will allow me to be used by Him to draw others to Him. That would just be “KABLOOEY!”

Father, thank you for the joy you give through a relationship with you. Help us to share that joy with others in such a way that they may come to know you also.
