Coming Home

In My Father’s house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you.  I am going there to prepare a place for you.
John 14:2

Visitors were coming to my house. I wanted them to feel at home and to feel honored. I washed sheets, put out colorful towels, bought and prepared food that I knew they would like, cleaned, and put special touches around the house just for them. I was so excited to visit with them and to have them stay in my house.

Jesus said He is going to prepare a place for us in His Father’s house, heaven. As excited as I was for my visitors, He is even more excited for us to come and see all that He has been preparing for us! No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love Him (I Corinthians 2:9).

I was speaking with a teenage girl about heaven. She was not convinced it would be a fun place to be. I remember thinking the same thing when I was young. What we didn’t see was that the same Creator, that made this wonderful world with all the amazing things we love to see and do, created heaven as well. Why do we think heaven will be any less spectacular?

The Bible provides us with a glimpse of what to expect in Revelation 21 and 22. The new Jerusalem will have walls of jasper with precious stones adorning the foundations, a city of pure gold, gates of pearls, the river of the water of life, the tree of life, and will be illuminated with the light of God Himself.

But that is not the best part. We will live with God forever and ever!

Jesus is coming back soon! If you don’t have your boarding pass to heaven, be sure to get it today!  If you confess with our mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved (Romans 10:9).
