See,
I have engraved you on the palms of My hands; your walls are ever before Me.
Isaiah 49:16
I know I know it! Don’t tell me! I know I remember
their names! It is on the tip of my
tongue! Oh my goodness, here they come
and I cannot remember their names! Oh,
Lord, help me recall their name!
We all have had this
happen---and it seems the more birthdays I have the more frequently the
scenario is occurring.
But, did you know the Lord
does not forget our name? He calls us by
name---not some heavenly name that only He knows. But, our earthly name---Mary, Susan, John,
Steve, etc. He knows and calls us by our
name as He called to 12 year old Samuel. “Samuel! Samuel!”
(1 Samuel 3:10).
Isn’t that precious? He doesn’t just address us as “Hey you”, “Hey
girl”, “Somebody”, “Yo’ anyone”, “Hey boy”, or “Yoo hoo”, He calls us by our given name. And many times addresses us with endearments,
such as “My beloved one”, “My child”, or
“My precious one.”
Don’t you just love that The
Lord God Almighty knows and calls us by name and finds us so valuable and
beloved that He carves our name on the palms of His hands? I don’t know about you, but it brings me to
my knees in love and gratitude.
Not only is our name written
on the palms of God’s hands, but Revelation 21:27 tells us that when we accept
Jesus’ gift of salvation our name is written down in Heaven’s divine ledger The
Lamb’s Book of Life.
So, neither age, nor mental
overload ever causes God to forget your name or mine when we accept His Son
Jesus as our Savior. We are precious to
Him.
Thank You Lord, Your memory
is not like mine!
