And we
know with great confidence that God causes all things to work together as a
plan for good for those who love Him . . .
Romans 8:28 AMP
Growing up at my house was a life of nothing wasted. For instance, left-overs were never thrown out but turned into “lovely” other meals – served several times more!
Mom saved everything – nothing wasted!
In the present I have often said to myself, being sick or side-lined for any reason is
such a waste of time! But a few weeks ago, I had a fall and found myself in
a leg brace walking like a penguin – stuck at home – and my independence very
much interrupted. I quickly decided that this would not be a worthless
experience.
Some said to me that this injury happened in order
to show me that I need to slow down. I don’t think so. When my knee heals my
schedule will be the same as it was before, and I had no complaints! So what
does it mean when I am set aside for a while?
It means that God gives me a special seat in the
front row for listening.
My confinement pulls me into a place of closeness
with Him.
I realize my flesh is always weak, not just the day
I fell, but every day.
I have had to depend on others and they haven’t
been able to depend on me – a prescribed humbleness!
I am not “marking time,” waiting for life to be
normal again, but I remain in the present by drawing God into my ordinary
moments.
I always have the choice to look away from the
things I see around me and, instead, look to the One Who sees me!
Isaiah 40:29, 31 says, He gives power to the weak, and to those who have no might He increases
strength. Those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall
mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall
walk and not faint!
Father, thank you for “wait” time, knowing it
is Your good plan that works in my life every day!
Martha
