But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.
Galatians 5:22-23
How many times have you heard someone say, “Ooooo, yuck, I don’t like squash”?
Don’t put your trowel away, we have 4 rows of squash to plant today in our garden, because God loves this type of squash.
1st row Squash gossip
A gossip betrays a confidence, but a trustworthy man keeps a secret. (Proverbs 11:13).
2nd row Squash indifference
Now this was the sin of your sister Sodom: she and her daughters were arrogant, overfed, and unconcerned; they did not help the poor and needy (Ezekiel 16:49).
3rd row Squash grumbling
Don’t grumble against each other, brothers, or you will be judged. (James 5:9).
4th row Squash selfishness
Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves (Philippians 2:3).
Many times these habits we need to squash are so subtle and ingrained in our behavior we are not even aware how offensive they are to God and detrimental to ourselves and everyone around us.
A man reaps what he sows. Let us do not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up (Galatians 6:7,9).
Lord, grow me to greater spiritual maturity.
