The Arms of Mercy

only Jesus was left with the woman standing there. Jesus straightened up and asked her, “Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you?”
“No one, sir,” she said.
“Then neither do I condemn you, “Jesus declared, “Go now and leave your life of sin.”
John 8: 3-11

Sometimes the best place to be in our sin is face to face with Jesus.

You see, this lady was caught in adultery by the teachers of the Law and the Pharisees. They brought her to Jesus to be judged and stoned to death. Jesus looked at this woman, bent down and started writing on the ground with his finger. Jesus asked them if any one is without sin then they could throw the first stone at her.

When everyone around this woman wanted to condemn her for her sin, Jesus saw it as an opportunity to display His mercy toward her.

Sometimes God wants to get you alone so that He is the only one left standing there for you to notice.

Dear Merciful God,

Thank you that you love us so much that you want to have an intimate relationship with us. You will not let us drown in our sin too long before we have to confess it before you.

Thank you that you are a God of mercy and that you do not give us what we deserve because you already paid the price once and for all on the cross. We pray Lord that we never take your sacrifice for granted.

In the Name of Jesus,
Amen

Charity O
