“I tell you the truth, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Therefore, whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.”
Matthew 18:3-4
This one hits home for me because I am a mother of two small girls. There is so much that I want from them… to honor me, to respect me, to love me, to obey me…..isn’t God asking the same thing from me? Do I humbly go before Him with my problems? Do I cling to Him first thing in the morning before I start my chaotic day? Do I admit to Him when I have done wrong or do I try to justify my actions (just really making excuses).
Do I treat Him the way my kids treat me sometimes?
Yes, I have to admit I do.
Let’s fall on our knees and ask God to forgive us for being too “grown-up” with Him and not having a childlike heart.
Dear Daddy God,
Please forgive us for not coming to You with a childlike spirit and attitude. We need to approach You the way we long for our children to approach us. Please forgive us for not humbling ourselves before You and being open and honest with You. Help us to not push our time with You aside but seek You for direction on how to align our priorities. Help us to trust Your words and hang onto Your promises the way a child holds a parent’s hand. Show us how we can tear down any boundaries we may have built in order to make it seem we have it all together. Give us the desire to crawl up in your lap and just pour our hearts out. Thank You for loving us! Thank You for being our perfect Daddy God – help us to be Your little children.
In Jesus Name,
Amen
Charity O
