How Tracy Experiences God Through Cancer

The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you …
Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.

Deuteronomy 31:8

Though this may be an Old Testament verse, my friend Tracy knows it to be just as true in 2016.

She's watched God's hand at work as she walks through cancer.

More than 25 years ago, she sat beside Jennifer in middle school band. They've been friends ever since. Jennifer experienced cancer and got the word five years ago that she's cancer free.

When Tracy felt the lump, she called Jennifer first.

"Jennifer prepared for me every appointment, the tests, the questions and just listened to me," Tracy says. "She even drove five hours to be with me through surgery and watch me sleep for three days."

That's just one way God provides for Tracy.

Every time she doesn't feel like cooking, a friend appears with food.

Four years ago, Tracy started holding annual fundraisers for cancers affecting women. Those connections gave her access to the best medical care in the country.

Because Tracy sees God at work, she constantly shares this with others.

One day she walked into chemo treatment and the nurses didn't let her choose her seat like usual. Then the nurses began seating other patients right beside her when there were empty seats all over the room.

Tracy thought it was a little weird but kept being her chatty self.

As she left treatment that day, her nurse thanked her for encouraging the women around her. Turns out, the nurse had strategically placed these women next to Tracy.

"I know I've been given a brief moment to have an impact on lives that I wouldn't otherwise meet," Tracy says. "So I want to show someone else how to dance in the rain. No matter what we walk through, God can use us."

Lord,
No matter what we are going through. Help us to see how you have already prepared the way. Help us to encourage each other on our journey.
In Jesus' Name,
Amen
Stacy
