Christmas Lights

When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.
John 8:12

My husband just does not get it. I love Christmas. I love decorating for Christmas especially the lights. It might get messy during the process, but that does not bother me.

He, on the other hand, does not see the need for Christmas lights at all. They’re too much trouble. He doesn’t want to climb up on the roof any more. You just put them up to take them down a few weeks later according to him.

I love love LOVE to drive around in the evening during the Christmas season and see the lights up on people’s houses. I even like to walk around our block at night during the season because our neighbors’ Christmas lights illuminate the streets which are usually much darker.

Jesus is the light of the world. That is who we celebrate at Christmas. For me all of the lights I see on houses and businesses magnify the meaning of the holiday and give me great joy.

Because of the light who was born into the world, his death on the cross, and resurrection, we can have salvation. What a celebration!

I am sure there are many people like my husband who just do not feel the need for Christmas lights like I do and I will try really hard to respect their opinions, but as for me, I still go for the lights.

May your Christmas season be filled with light – His Light!

God, as we celebrate the Christmas season with all the hustle and bustle help us to appreciate the significance of the gift of Your Light to us in the midst of our spiritual darkness.
