Be Careful Little Mouth What You Say . . .

“Do not be quick with your mouth, do not be hasty in your heart to utter anything before God. God is in heaven and you are on earth, so let your words be few.”
Ecclesiastes 5:2

“With the tongue we praise our Lord and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in God’s likeness. Out of the same mouth come praise and cursing. My brothers, this should not e.”
James 3: 9-10

Words have damaging affects; they hurt and destroy if you are not careful. It has the power to lift up, encourage, motivate, and give praises but if not controlled the evilness of your heart is revealed. It is scary to think that the very same lips that I use to give God glory, honor and praise can also spit out mean, hateful and degrading remarks to those closest to me.

The serpents tongue was used to deceive Adam and Eve, David commanded that an innocent man be killed in order to cover up his sin, Peter verbally denied Jesus three times. Marriages are started or ended by our words, Children’s little spirits are encouraged or crushed by our words, and friendships can get strengthened or separated by our words. Words are powerful!

Dear Merciful Father,

Lord we are so thankful that you are a God that is slow to anger and holds no records of wrong. Please forgive us for not controlling our tongue and allowing our emotions to guide our words. We ask that you help us mend relationships of those we have hurt with our actions and confess where we have done wrong. Give us the power to control our tongue and to let our “words be few”. Thank you that through the Holy Spirit we have self-control over our mouth.

In Jesus Name,

Amen

Charity O
