The Lord is my shepherd; I lack nothing.
Psalm 23:1
“The Lord is my shepherd; I lack nothing.” The end. Enough said. I could stop right there or could I?
“I lack nothing.” Really? Do I believe that in my heart? Am I allowing myself to be content with what He has provided me?
But God, my house is not as nice as my fellow Christians. I am not as polished as some of my sisters in You. I fail in so many areas of my life. I stink.
“I lack nothing.”
How could I, a mere human, lack nothing?
Let’s make it an if/then statement. If the Lord is my shepherd; then I lack nothing. I lack nothing by allowing the Lord to be my shepherd. I acknowledge the skills He has given me and use them to get through this life He has given me. I follow His lead on life choices both big and small.
The King James Version of the Bible says, “I shall not want.” As long as I am following and obeying my shepherd, I lack nothing so how could I be in want of anything?
My shepherd will guide me in the way I should go. He will make sure that my needs get met in His own time. The only thing I have to do it follow His lead.
Is the Lord my shepherd? If so, then I truly do lack NOTHING.
Lord, you ARE my shepherd, help me remember that You truly do provide what I need in your perfect timing. Thank you for your provision.
Susan P.
