Raining on Your Parade

Many are the plans in a man’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails. 

Proverbs 19:21

My family and I were so excited about going on a week-long vacation.

We had spent weeks planning and scheduling events and activities.

We realized halfway into our trip that we left the tickets at home for the amusement park we were going visit that week. Then as we were getting checked in our hotel, we were told that the amusement park was not open three days out of that week, and the day it did open, there were flash floods and severe thunderstorms, so they had to close the park down for the day!

It certainly was raining on our parade!

Even though our planning did not go smooth on our trip, we trusted that God had something better in mind. He brought new and exciting activities for that otherwise we would have never done.

You see, what seemed like ‘rain on our parade’ was actually a detour into a wonderful adventure and a memory that will last for years.

Dear Father,

Thank you that you have our best interest in mind. Help us to remember that when our plans do not go as we hoped, we can trust you have something better in mind. Help us not get defeated by obstacles that come up by surprise. Help us fight off the enemy as he will try to steal our joy. We pray that trusting you will become an automatic reaction to unknown circumstances. Allow our unwavering faith to attract those around us that may not know you. Strengthen us each step of the way as we walk in your truth, and allow us to keep on smiling - even when it rains.
