Main Course

You make many plans, but the Lord’s purpose will prevail.
Proverbs 19:21

When I am preparing the main course for dinner I always want it to be the best it can be.  There is salad, sides, and dessert, but the meat is what I work around.  That is the main course.

In my day by day walk with the Lord it is His purpose that He be the main course.  I have been a stay at home mom for 33 years.  I have done housework, cooked, run errands, and  done all that goes with being a wife and a mother.  All those things aside, everything I do each day works together and entwines with God’s purpose.

Let me put it this way.  Many people just live life and fit God around all the other things they are doing.  The tasks or the events of life become the main course and God is just an appetizer.

As I see it that is the opposite of what I God desires.  He wants us to know Him first and then know we are here for His purpose and glory.  Everything else works around that.

We are called, and I do mean called.  That word means to make a request or demand; to designate or name.  Our first and most important duty is to live God’s purpose. That is to be a light to a lost and fallen world.  In everything we do that task should be the most important work.

The next time we run our errands, take care of our families, or go to work, let’s not miss the opportunities that are there before us to fulfill our call.  Jesus came to earth for one purpose only and that was by his sacrifice to save mankind by forgiving us of our sins.  His entire life on earth life was centered on that goal. May we be all that He wants us to be out of gratitude for such a wonderful gift.

Thank you Jesus for giving me a calling to fulfill your purpose.
