“Come follow Me,” Jesus said,
“and I will make you fishers of men.”
Matthew 4:19
My summer Bible Study is all about fishing. Here a fish! There a fish! Everywhere there is
a fish! No, it is not that trophy
trout. This fishing is for the greatest
of trophies---introducing people to Jesus.
God has made each of us believers uniquely qualified to
introduce everyone around us to Jesus and His love. We are perfectly positioned by Jesus to fish
where we are.
First, we show interest in people, show kindness and
Christ’s love. Pray for boldness to
speak when the opportunity pops up. Share your faith story with gentleness. The Holy Spirit does the hard part---HE changes hearts. Look around you for your Divinely appointed
fishing spot.
As believers we do not think we are better than others, we
just know we are better off because we follow Jesus.
“But, but, but, I don’t have the spiritual gift of evangelism!”
you say. True, you may not. But, Jesus does not let you or me “off the
hook” about fishing. He said, “Go and make
disciples (fishing)." Check Matthew
28:16-20 for yourself. Jesus gave this
command, known as “The Great Commission,” to all---even the doubters!!!!
I know you are glad someone fished for you? Who was that person? Your parents? Youth minister? Vacation Bible
school worker? Your friend or co-worker? Pastor, or your grandparents? Thank God for that person.
Now, you go FISH!!!!!!!
Thank You, Lord, for
my grandparents and that Vacation Bible School worker that fished for me.
